🎧 Podcast: WordPress Website Making $100m a Year
My First Million interviewed Syed Balkhi from WPBeginner about growing his simple WordPress blog to $100 million a year in revenue.
As the name suggests, WPBeginner helps people use WordPress. That’s it.
If you’ve ever built a WordPress website, you’ve probably spent a lot of time on WPBeginner (I have!).
While Syed’s success might be difficult to comprehend, the process was quite simple.
In a nutshell, here’s his journey:
Starting building websites as a hobby in his teens.
Got hired by family friends who owned businesses to design their websites.
Noticed a new, fast-growing but complicated software that would revolutionize his industry: WordPress.
Starting a content website showing people how to use WordPress, answering their most common questions, and recommending related projects.
Monetized the website through affiliate marketing.
Identified the most popular products among his readers and started buying the companies that owned them.
Switched to recommending his own products above competitors.
Also gained revenue from other WordPress-focused websites and bloggers recommending the products he now owned.
Rinse and repeat until he was making $100 million a year.
Simple, right?
So, how can you replicate Syed’s success in your life?
You only need to be 0.1% as successful as Syed, and you’d be making $100,000 a year.

🚨 Two more things I love about this story:
Syed owns 100% of his business. He never raised money from VCs because he didn’t need to. Most content website businesses don’t.
