For the moment, that’s all I can say. But the most interesting part of this story is where this job came from.

It came from someone I met through my dance teacher in Nairobi 2 years ago.

We’ll see where this story goes, but would you believe me if I told you this was the third time in a year that learning to dance has advanced my career?

🧠 The Psychology of Money

Here’s a secret I probably shouldn’t share: I’m terrible with money. 😳

A traumatic childhood, history of addiction, and lifelong struggles with anxiety and depression are not exactly a recipe for fiscal responsibility.

Since getting sober, my relationship with money has improved exponentially. But as a freelancer, money is always on your mind – I’m sure many of you can relate.

And most personal finance advice focuses way too much on spreadsheets and savings rates – and not enough on the emotional and psychological aspects of money that hold so many of us back.

So, this week I’m reading The Psychology of Money, and learning a lot. My favorite chapters so far:

• Why most investing and finance advice is out-of-date and impractical (even the best).

• How to prepare for unexpected events and emergencies financially and emotionally.

• Getting wealthy vs staying wealthy – and why they’re very different skills.

• The “Man in the Car” paradox - why no one really cares about your fancy car or nice watch.  

🤖 This Week in AI

As always, there was way too much AII news to keep up with. But keeping up with AI is the most critical skill for freelancers, consultants, and business owners in 2023.
